End of Year Party - December 17, 2014

On Wednesday 17 December 2014, The Couch celebrated its End of The Year Party to mark the end of another enjoyable and fun-filled year! Many new and old Couchers from all parts of the world and cultures came to make the event both a successful and a loud one!

We had a number of activities during the event such as a pool, basketball and ping pong competitions, followed by a night of dancing! I believe that it was one of the most happening events at The Couch this year and it attracted many people to come and participate! Excellent food, games, music, face-painting, and the awesome visitors and volunteers have made it an unforgettable night!

John, one of our energetic and faithful volunteers, was there to help out and have fun. He said, ‘If I could describe it in one word, I have to say the word, amazing fits the bill. From the music and the catering to the students and volunteers. You could feel the happiness, oneness and fun in the room. I would love to see that daily.’

Hope was impressed with how much the students and volunteers got into the dancing. ‘There were vollies whom I saw dance for the first time, and it was interesting to see different cultural moves demonstrated by some of our friends. The friendly and lively atmosphere totally brought so much life to The Couch’s yearend party!’

But, for many, the stand out feature of the night had to be the photobooth. A wide array of funny props, combined with near instant prints, ensured there was always a line of people waiting to have their photo taken. Jane said, ‘After getting the photos, people could immediately share the photos with friends and talk about how they looked in the photos. Everyone enjoyed it because the photobooth helped them to record the happy times with friends and they can keep these precious memories forever.’

Congratulations to all our pool, basketball and table tennis winners and all the volunteers and participants who helped and contributed to made it a successful and spectacular one! For those of you who came for the first time at The End Year party, hope to see you all of you soon again soon because we need you most importantly for every of our events!
