When news got out that Peter was leaving, many old friends from The Couch in cities and countries far away sent their best wishes:
Hi Peter,
This is messages from Annie. Still remember me? Thanks to Andrew that I still can hear all the news about The Couch after I left Melbourne, including that you're leaving.
Wow, how times fly! I still remembered the first night I went to The Couch in 2011. It was a small place with a lot of people there from all over the world. You were just like the head of the family and welcomed everyone with such hospitality. Because of you, I met lots of friends in The Couch, and my life in Melbourne became enriched.
Thanks for everything you did for The Couch. You're nice and optimistic. I'm sure we all will miss you and remember you forever. Wish you all the best.
If one day you visit Taiwan, don't forget you have a friend called Annie here. Cheers!
It was a relatively quiet night - with Peter enjoying some games of table tennis with long term volunteers of The Couch.

Then, we were all given a treat, as Robin played a video full of memorable moments and photos of Peter's time at The Couch, before the big man got up himself and said his farewells.
"All the best in your future endeavors Peter. May your spirit live in The Couch through those you have nurtured over the past few years." - Choo Yang |
He wished everyone the best, and pleaded with us all to keep The Couch going as a friendly and safe place for students in Melbourne to relax. His greatest wish is The Couch will continue long after his departure.

The night ended with some delicious cake that Ross generously provided for everyone before the final, bittersweet exit.
