Colombian Party - 20 August 2015

Colombia is a beautiful country in South America and has a population of nearly 50 million people. We were lucky enough to have three of the loveliest ladies from Colombia throw a party for The Couch!

Regular volunteers Zuaad, Sara, and their mum, Verena, did a lot of planning and preparing in order to make the night a huge success. In fact, all of the fancy decorations were brought directly from Colombia to Australia in Verena’s suitcase!

After watching some short videos about Colombia, a live dance performance had everyone mesmerised. The energy was contagious while watching the girls dance in their traditional Colombian dresses, and soon everyone was on the dance floor moving to great music!

The food was also a huge hit! Verena, Sara, and Zuaad definitely spoiled everyone at The Couch with delicious homemade Colombian food. They served arepas (corn cakes), empanadas, and for dessert arroz con leche (rice with milk).

Five seconds after this photos was taken, Cika was mauled for the remaining desserts.

The tasty food didn’t last long and the dancing could have went on all night – both signs of a very, very fun party! A huge thank you goes out to Verena, Zuaad, and Sara for their time, effort, kindness, generosity and all around great party-throwing skills! Thank you!
