A few days before the dinner, Leah worked hard taking RSVPs, so Peter could advise total numbers attending to the chefs at Spice Market. On the day, we all met at The Couch first, so we could walk there together in one group. If you happened to go to The Couch that night and found it closed, please make sure to like us and subscribe for updates on Facebook to keep up to date with the latest news!
One of the first things that greets you as you enter Spice Market are rows of statues, each one carrying a candle. The wall of candlelit statues gave us all a warm feeling as we entered from the cool autumn night. Although not open to the public that night, the people at Spice Market paid attention to detail to make sure the ambiance was just perfect!
For the people who had been to Spice Market before, it was a bit surreal to see it so empty and quiet. On other nights, when open to the public, it is always so busy and bustling, often with a queue extending out the door. The mood was especially comfortable there, as our kind hosts had already laid out many seats so we could all sit down at and relax. In addition to cutlery, they also thoughtfully left out a bottle of water at each spot.
It was really a different experience to see Spice Market so peaceful and calm, and the staff there were so kind and nice to us all. As well as continuously bringing us more yummy treats, the also kept bringing out bottles of water so that no one went thirsty either. It was a real treat to receive such attentive service.
On behalf of everyone from The Couch, we'd like to thank Spice Market for their hospitality and giving us all such a wonderful night!
