Korean Night - May 25, 2015

On Monday, May 25th, many people gathered at The Couch to take part in another exciting City of Melbourne Cultural Series – this time celebrating Korean Night!

We were very lucky to have Mr. Hongju Jo, the Korean Consul General for Melbourne,
introduce the evening and welcome the guests.

The night began with a traditional Korean dance of peace. The graceful movements of the elegant dancer as she crossed the stage really mesmerised the crowd. A change in pace soon followed with an up-beat Jindo drum dance.

The energy continued with an entertaining dance performance by the group MVOXO. In addition to the Korean raffle prizes that were won earlier in the night, the dancers from MVOXO threw gifts out to an excited audience after their performance.

Hany Lee, a talented Korean-Australian singer, songwriter and actress was on stage next! She put on a great show that everyone loved! Many people in the crowd were happy to take photos with the well-known K-pop artist, and she was kind enough to pose for many pictures with her fans.

Guests were also treated to balloon creations by Danny Yen, free Korean food, and traditional cultural activities. You may have also noticed ‘Pororo the Little Penguin’ (a cartoon character from a from a popular South Korean TV show) wandering around the room that night. Everyone enjoyed taking pictures with him!

It was an extremely entertaining evening! Thank you to everyone involved! We also had the opportunity to ask some our guests what their favourite part of the Korean Night was.

What was your favourite part of Korean Night?
